I was in Palm Springs this weekend for Designer Vaca. It was a joy meeting so many women I've looked up to, as well as all sorts of new friends who are making big things happen. We went to the Ace Hotel to talk design shop and drink PBR tall boys by the pool.
I'll post more
braggy, I mean artistic photos + a few takeaways tomorrow, but I want to spend a second on what left me the most inspired.
The way these ladies carried themselves.
It was the bomb.biz seeing women who are "making it" talk about their struggles, processes and stories. They were being sincere in discussing their rocky roads, but they still owned it. They didn't downplay their achievements or make excuses for their success. They were as real as the nose on this man's forehead. (I wouldn't click on that link if I were you).
Sorry about that.
What I'm trying to say, is that it was a very life-giving trip and I think it's important for freelancers and entrepreneurs to take trips like this in lieu of working with a team at an office. "Okay, fine," says Becky to Becky. There are a few more conferences I'm probably going to attend this year. Do you have any you recommend attending? Others coming up: Love Does, If: Gathering, Circles (just happened), and approximately one million more.
P.S. My sister, Laurel, was crowned Homecoming Queen on Friday! I couldn't be a prouder big sis.
